To start,
nothing better than an Impact Investing overview...
Impact Investing is going mainstream
In 2020, the market reached roughly $715 billion in assets under management, according to GIIN.
Huge challenges to be solved
Climate crisis, economic inequality, gender disparity, racial injustice, and other crises are now on the spotlight of governments and society.
$2.5 trillion annual gap
In the funds needed to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
COVID-19 has disrupted lives of millions of people
It has also made it even harder to achieve the SDGs as governments shift resources to survive the threats of the disease, including the exacerbation of inequalities.
With such remarkable growth of impact investing over the last years...
$715 billion
2020
$25.4 billion
...we wonder how far impact investments might advance from now to 2030.

How do you
measure the impact of
DECISIVE INVESTMENTS?
As impact is not an exact science, it can often be difficult to measure and assess....
We strive to build a positive future.
Our mission? Simple.
To back tech founders fixing the world at scale, generating outsized impact for every dollar of revenue.
Based on science and evidence of impact, we’re
laser-focused on making Decisive Investments, channeling venture capital to daring entrepreneurs
in a restless mission to challenge the status quo.
Those are the verticals we are investing in:
PLANET
PROSPERITY
Building emerging sustainable and regenerative systems, fostering low carbon economies and enabling a safe space for life on planet to thrive.
SOCIAL
RESILIENCE
Designing human-centered technology to improve education, health, financial services, mobility, employment and beyond.
EMERGING
TECHNOLOGIES
Building infrastructure and technology levers to increase access to essential services and enable decisive impact at scale.
And to do it so,
we rely on frameworks to make our metrics more quantitative and bring a basis for comparison and guidance.
As guidelines we rely on...
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
Positive Ventures follows closely the global Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”) agenda, set at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. The 17 SDGs represent a world call to action and guideline to protect the planet and secure a prosperous future for all humanity. We take this seriously and adopt this framework at the very beginning of our screening process when evaluating investment opportunities.
...for in-depth metrics and baselines...
IMPACT MANAGEMENT PROJECT (IMP)
The Impact Management Project (“IMP”) is the most accepted global consensus on how to measure, manage and report impact. We apply its frameworks for the investment opportunities that were selected among the best screened. Out of the 5 main dimensions for measuring impact, we are particularly concerned with the WHO, mostly focusing on investing in companies serving the underserved that were left behind. Applying IMP’s tools enables us to best define KPIs to be monitored.
...and for an ESG view...
B CORPORATION
The B Corp certification goes beyond the certification of a product or service, being the only global certification that measures the entire social and environmental practices of a company.
As a B certified Investment Manager, Positive Ventures encourages and provides support to all our investees that want to pursue the certification.
All these frameworks are integrated in different parts of our impact process
Starting with the Lead phase...

CLOSED
Phase of unmasking the founding team's impact intentionality; In depth analysis of the solvable challenge and its relevance according to our frameworks and identifying the corresponding SDGs.
Time to deep dive into an evidence-based research on the outcomes of similar interventions; envision the business impact opportunities and unravel the company's impact on the IMP’s five dimensions.
Moment to co-define the possible impact metrics to be measured; define the Impact Champion of the company; write and sign the Positive Term Sheet.
After the closing, we enter the Impact Engine stage, in which we measure and report monthly KPI's on the impact of the investees; do quarterly reports for investors and an annual impact report.
With several societal challenges to be dealt with, we have a decisive decade ahead of us.
We see extraordinary opportunities in tech-enabled ventures that are taking aim at such challenges to build disruptive solutions that generate outsized social and environmental positive impact to repurpose the future.
We are not a company with a mission.
We are on a mission with a company.

"From our LPs that are much more than just investors,
supporting us with powerful reputational, intellectual, and ethical capital, whose values reverberate inside and outside the investment management company. We have no doubts that having investors who inspire us is a fundamental part of the value proposition that made us attract the exceptional – and decisive – assets that make up our investment portfolio.
We strive to establish a powerful flywheel, through which for every dollar invested we deliver positive societal impact alongside competitive financial returns, thus attracting more capital to be channeled into more decisive investments.
By doing so, we turn the flywheel into a virtuous cycle that everyone wins. This is the way forward and there must be no turning back. "
